Brewer Data Management System (BDMS) Data Submission Agreement

--------------------------------------------------------------

Introduction

------------

The Brewer Data Management System (BDMS) is intended to serve primarily as an

off-site archive of global Level 0 (primary or "raw") Brewer data, but the

BDMS was also designed to build custom data processing, analysis and quality

assurance procedures. BDMS data and products are intended for scientific and

educational purposes. Although the BDMS is housed at the Atmospheric

Environement Service (AES) along with the World Ozone and Ultraviolet Radiation

Data Centre (WOUDC), the data systems are unique and autonomous.

This agreement outlines the terms to be established between the AES BDMS and

the data originator(s) with respect to the limited or "restricted" access to

the submitted data.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BDMS data designated "restricted" will be made available by means of a special

restricted access ftp account to only those individuals who submit a signed

copy of the AES BDMS data users protocol (BDMSprot.txt).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any further inquiries may be directed to the AES BDMS by:

Terms of the Data Submission Agreement

--------------------------------------

The BDMS expects to receive Level 0 primary or "raw" data, Level 1 quality

assured processed data are also welcome.

For the purposes of data distribution, the data originator(s) is requested to

indicate the option of choice for the release of his/her data.

NOTE: "General Distribution" requires a generic username/password to access

the BDMS data archive. However, no data usage agreements are

specified or required in order to obtain access.

DATA DISTRIBUTION OPTIONS

-------------------------

Indicate only one.

Level 0 - Primary or "Raw" Data

-------

Option Condition(s)

------ ------------

__ 1. Data will be archived only. No distribution.

__ 2a. Restricted distribution (indefinitely) except to members of the

Brewer community who have signed the Data Protocol.

__ 2b. Restricted distribution for __ months (up to 24 months), after which,

the restriction would be removed and the data would be made available

through general access.

__ 3. Unrestricted access, with general distribution.

Level 1 - Processed Data

-------

Option Conditions(s)

------ -------------

__ 4. Restricted distribution for __ months (up to 24 months), after which,

the restriction would be removed and the data would be made available

through general access.

__ 5. Unrestricted access, with general distribution.

Special Data Processing Agreement

---------------------------------

A data originator may choose to allow the staff at the AES to process Level 0

data using standard BDMS data processing procedures and algorithms,

specifically developed for the output and distribution of BDMS Level 1 data or

in some cases, such as spectral UV, Level 2 data. Before the data are posted,

a consultation between AES and the data originator(s) will be conducted to

confirm the release of the data sets.

Option Conditions(s)

------ -------------

__ 6. Restricted distribution for __ months (up to 24 months), after which,

the restriction would be removed and the data would be made available

through general access.

__ 7. Unrestricted access, with general distribution.

Level 2 - Gridded Data

-------

Should a data originator decide to submit Level 2 gridded data then he/she

is encouraged to contact the AES to discuss the terms of a data submission

and distribution agreement.
